Keshinro parades bribe of 130,000 CFA along with other exhibits linked to the heinous crime and warms perpetrators to desist from the act ...
In line with the robust technology - driven intelligence championed by the Commandant General , Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Prof., Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD , mni, OFR , to combat insecurity head on in the country, the Lagos State Command of the service has recently continued to achieve milestone operational successes in all aspects of crime smashing oweing to the smooth fulfilment of the Corps' statutory mandates in the state.
On Thursday, 7th May, 2026 at about 1700HRS in the evening, an unsuspecting victim, Mr Atokar Allah Iderim, a nurse and national of Central African Republic approached the Badagry Division of the Lagos State Command to report his untoward experience of deception , extortion, unlawful detention, human right abuses, human trafficking and fraud amongst others by a dangerous syndicate operating in a camp at Torikoh, Badagry and other locations under the guise of a network marketing business code named 'QNET.'
The complainant, Mr Atokar Iderim, male , aged 28yrs disclosed to our operatives in Badagry Division on the same Thursday, 7th May that he was lured by one of his Facebook friends known as Lansu Alex to come to Togo and later Nigeria for a better job offer, which unfortunately later turned out to be an ugly experience for him .
Mr Atokar said that upon arriving Nigeria along with his Facebook friend , Lansu Alex , a Togolese, he was then compelled to register for the fraudulent Internet marketing scheme leading to his extortion by the operators of the scheme, who failed to fulfill their promise of granting him and other victims that he met at the camp better employment opportunities.
Mr Atokari further alleged that the operators of the fraudulent network marketing scheme in a new turn of event forcefully collected his mobile phone and power bank from him and sold them and later destroyed his SIM cards at the camp where he was unlawfully detained and then a sum of ten thousand Naira ( ₦10,000 ) only was handed over to him to cater for his feeding until he was able to source for the money needed to register for the supposed business but fortunately for him he escaped out of the camp , which looked like a den of lions .
Consequent upon the diligent confirmation of the above intelligence report to be credible and actionable, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro immediately directed the Badagry Division operatives led by the Divisional Officer, Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga to swiftly and tactically launch a debilitating blow on these suspected criminals identified to be hiding at the camp in Torikoh, Badagry where they carried out all forms of cross border crimes ; human trafficking , illegal migration, fraudulent internet marketing scheme , abuses, sabotage , extortion, fraud and unlawful detention of victims now becoming a rampant crime in cross borders of West African sub - region .
The operatives swung into action in a combat ready but tactically coordinated operation and recorded a landslide arrest of a total of four ( 4 ) male suspects ( three Togolese and one Benenoise ) and a total of seventeen ( 17 ) victims comprising twelve ( 12 ) male between the ages of 25 to 35 and five ( 5 ) female between the ages of 25 to 30 were rescued ( names of suspects and victims withheld ).
The perpetrators of these heinous crimes in a sinister move again decided to offer a bribe of 130,000 CFA to the Badagry operatives but was rejected and paraded as part of the exhibits linked to the crime.
Other exhibits linked to the suspects include; an operating HP Laptop, files , QNET letter headed papers , leather bags, phones and other pharmaceutical items used for their victims .
Further investigation into this operation has also revealed that intending members of this fraudulent internet scheme are mandated to pay the sum of 650,000 CFA as registration fee before they are allowed to participate in the business and thereafter select the products of their choice which are allegedly suspected to be shipped in from Malaysia into Nigeria via a yet to be verified channel with the view to operating up lines and down lines marketing system .
It was also gathered that some new business recruits traveling from various African countries are currently on their way to Nigeria because they want to join the supposed profitable scheme and seek greener pastures .
Also prospective recruits were usually deceived into Nigeria through false pretence and promise that life is better and more profitable in Nigeria, the most populous black nation in the world .
Also investigation has revealed that the syndicate operates cross border crimes similar to the forms seen in other West African countries and as such brought into Nigeria to inflict pains, hardship, harshness and wickedness on their unsuspecting victims who are largely also foreign nationals of the Republic of Benin and Togo.
Four ( 4 ) different camps within Badagry where these suspected criminals perpetrate their dastardly act have also been identified also to be located in Aradagun, Mowo, Badagry Town and Limca. Two camps out of these four have been discovered but the perpetrators fled as a result of the fear of the fire power of the NSCDC personnel . The discovered camps will also be sealed by the Command to end such crimes from growing and destroying social and financial integrity in our society .
The Lagos State Commandant seized this opportunity to warn perpetrators of these heinous crime to desist from it or continue to face the full wrath of the law as they will not be spared when caught and found culpable .
In a bid to further strengthen collaboration , cooperation and coordination amongst security agencies, in the fight against cross border crimes in West Africa , particularly , Nigeria, the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC has also immediately directed that the suspects and victims be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service , Lagos State Command for further investigation and prosecution.
He informed the good people of the state also to refrain from all forms of activities connected to human trafficking, economic sabotage and fraud as they come with devastating consequences no matter the temporal gains got from them.
He also assured the general public that investigation was ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the operations , identify collaborators, seal camps and determine the culpability of all the persons involved .
Signed.
