 SERVICE IS ABOUT IDEAS, NOT JUST RIFLES”: NSCDC HONORS RETIRING ACG ABODURIN AS HE UNVEILS SIX NEW BOOKS



The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commended the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing the support necessary to end career stagnation and enhance the operational capabilities of the Corps.


Speaking at the National Headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, noted that the current administration’s commitment has significantly boosted personnel conduct and morale across the federation.


The CG’s remarks were delivered by the Deputy Commandant General, Directorate of Technical Services, Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc, during a special ceremony held to honor ACG Hammed Abodurin, PhD, fdc, who officially retires from active service on May 1, 2026. The event featured the historic launch of six books authored by the retiring officer.


Prof. Audi described ACG Abodurin as a beacon of intellectual leadership, noting his three-time recognition as the Best State Commandant.

“Service delivery is not only about carrying rifles but also about carrying ideas,” the CG stated, emphasizing that a commitment to reading and writing is essential for a living, breathing organization.


The event featured reviews of two flagship publications: Daily Security Tips for School Children (reviewed by Ag. DCG Dr. Benito Eze) and Paramilitary Ethics: The Essential Standard in Paramilitary Operations (reviewed by Prof. Adetunji Iyiola). The other books launched include:


Language of Security Operations.


Public Relations in Security Operations.

The ceremony drew high-ranking officials from across the security and academic sectors. Goodwill messages were delivered by the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Francis Adenigba (represented by Pastor Sam Progress), Chief Oluwole Oludaisi Aina, PhD, and former Acting CG Hillary K. Madu (rtd).


Other notable attendees included the Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Nwakauche Ndidi, OFR (represented by ACG Dabit Timothy), and senior military officers including Brig. Gen. IE Amah, Brig. Gen. MS Adamu, and Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo


In his vote of thanks, ACG Abodurin expressed profound gratitude to the NSCDC leadership and his former commands in Ondo and Ogun States. He credited the Corps for providing the "wings to fly," allowing him to conclude a fulfilling career dedicated to both security and scholarship.
