NSCDC, Nigerian Navy Synergy Yields Major Breakthrough in Ondo, Five Arrested in Anti-Oil Theft Operation
In a strong demonstration of inter-agency collaboration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Navy recorded a significant operational success in the fight against oil theft in Ondo State.
Acting on coordinated intelligence, operatives from both agencies intercepted a large wooden boat at Awoye waterside, Igbokoda. The vessel was found conveying ten GP tanks with a capacity of 7,000 litres each, six of which were already loaded with suspected stolen petroleum products. Five suspects were apprehended at the scene.
The successful operation underscores the growing synergy between security agencies, driven by the strategic vision of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who has consistently emphasized intelligence-led collaboration and a zero-tolerance stance against economic sabotage.
Speaking during a joint briefing, Ondo State Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye reiterated that economic sabotage remains a direct threat to national development, stressing that such coordinated efforts will continue to safeguard Nigeria’s critical national assets.
The joint operation stands as a clear testament that unified action remains a powerful tool in securing the nation’s resources and dismantling criminal networks.
