In a deliberate effort to deepen unity and strengthen interfaith harmony, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, hosted Muslims and Christians to a joint breaking of fast at his residence in Abuja.
The CG stated that the gathering was aimed at fostering togetherness within the Corps and across the nation, emphasizing that unity remains a critical pillar for national peace and development. He noted that the gesture reflects the example set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose inclusive approach during the fasting season offers valuable lessons in leadership and coexistence.
Professor Audi further highlighted that the occasion provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement, mutual understanding, and encouragement among participants. Reaffirming his commitment following his reappointment, he assured of renewed efforts in aligning with the Renewed Hope agenda to enhance the protection of lives, critical national assets, and infrastructure.
In their separate remarks, the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche Ndidi, OFR, mni, and the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, commended the initiative, stressing the importance of religious tolerance and inter-agency collaboration. They noted that the shared fasting period for both faiths this year underscores the need for unity and respect.
The event featured prayers led by Alhaji Usman Dan-Kabo and the NSCDC Chaplain, Deputy Commandant of Corps John Paul, followed by the breaking of fast with senior officers and invited guests.
