“Security can no longer run on instinct; it must be forensic-led and AI-driven.” — CG Audi

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, made this assertion while delivering a keynote address at a 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop for officers in Abuja.

Represented by the Acting Deputy Commandant General, Training and Manpower Development, DCG Muktar Lawal, mni, the CG stressed that integrating forensic science and Artificial Intelligence into investigations is essential for evidence-based operations, improved accuracy, faster response time, and successful prosecutions.

He highlighted AI’s relevance in data analysis, pattern recognition, biometric identification, digital forensics, and predictive intelligence, noting that crime has become increasingly sophisticated, technology-driven, and transnational.

The CG emphasized that the ethical and professional application of these tools will significantly strengthen the Corps’ effectiveness in protecting lives and critical national assets.

In his welcome address, the Acting Head of the Forensic and Psychological Services Unit, Superintendent of Corps Bamidele Temidayo, urged participants to translate the knowledge gained into practical investigative outcomes in line with the Corps’ mandate.
