NSCDC FCT COMMAND ARRESTS 16 SUSPECTS FOR VANDALISM.




In keeping with their avowed commitment and  unwavering determination to protect National infrastructure under their purview, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) department,Tactical Squad on 24 hours surveillance, has again made arrests of sixteen (16) theft and vandalism suspects.


The suspects were arrested at different locations in the capital city at ungodly hours attempting to vandalize Armoured Cables, galvanized pipes,  Telecommunication equipments and other household equipments.


Three of the suspects Mubarak Barau, Male, 29 years old from Sumaila LGA, Kano State, John Yakubu, Male, 24 years old from Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State and Shamsudeen Usman, Male, 25 years old from Kano Municipal, Kano State. 

They were arrested at Central Area with items stolen from National  Agricultural Development Fund.


Exhibit found on them include eight (8) rolls of armoured Cables, one (1) LG outdoor AC, one(1) sound speaker, two (2) plastic Chairs,  two (2) bags of electrical cables, one (1) travelling bag containing clothes and one (1) saw.


 Danjuma Jerome, Male, 25 years old from kaura  LGA, Kaduna state, Maah Ishiaka, Male, 28 years old from Daura LGA, Katsina State, Shefiu Muktar, Male, 30 years old from Karaye LGA, Kano State, were arrested at Brains and Harmers Estate, Apo Dutse, Behind ShopRite for theft of sixteen (16) MM electrical wires and criminal conspiracy 


Others are Stephen Istifanus, Male, 43 years old from Madagali LGA, Adamawa State, Yakubu Thankgod, Male, 25 years old, from Madagali LGA, Adamawa State, Danladi Samson, Male, 29 years old, from Sanga LGA, Kaduna State, Barnabas Sobok, Male, 37 years old, from Billri LGA, Gombe State, they were all arrested at Jahi District, for Vandalization and stealing of galvanized pipes and criminal conspiracy .


One Saidu Shuibu, Male 43 years old, Bindawa LGA,  Katsina State, was also apprehended at Kallada by Cocoa, Idu in Abuja for  illegal mining.


Also apprehended were Phahat Abba, Male, 20 years old from Kukawa LGA, Borno State, Usman Adama, Male, 24 years old from Katsina LGA, Katsina State, Ali Shefiu, Male, 33 years Jibia LGA, Katsina, Adamu Shuibu, Male, 20 years from Barkinladi LGA, Plateau State and Yakubu Abubakar, Male, 21 years old from Barkinladi LGA, Plateau State, they were arrested at Kukwaba Idu, Abuja for illegal mining and dredging of sand.


Exhibits recovered from the suspects are  black Armoured Cables, three (3)shovels, seven (7) diggers, knife, pincers, two (2) pinches, two transformer fuse, ring boiler and electrical cables.


Commenting  on the arrest, the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, reaffirmed the Corps' zero tolerance to vandalism in the Federal Capital Territory, stating that he is resolute to rewrite history in the FCT.


"These assets are not for aesthetics, they are essential to make life more meaningful for the residents of the FCT, we must ensure their protection, that is why we are here".


The FCT Boss, maintained that the Command is always poised to provide protection for all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure under their purview.


He warned criminal elements in the territory to desist from sabotaging the efforts of government or be ready to face the full weight of the law.


 Adding that, disobedience to the law especially theft and vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure will not be treated with lose gloves.


The Commandant, consequently, urged FCT residents to assists the Corps with relevant intelligence and information to help them deliver on their mandate and rid the FCT of criminals and vandals.
