CG NSCDC ASSURES OPERATION SAFE CORRIDOR OF COLLABORATION TO SUCCEED
Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has assured Operations Safe Corridor of his agency's support and collaboration towards actualising the aim for which the operation was established.
Receiving the Coordinator, Operation Safe Corridor, Brig Gen Yusuf Ali and members of his team at the National Headquarters Corps, the CG stated, "NSCDC will continue to collaborate and render its professional support to Operation Safe Corridor as needed."
There won't be any development without peace, hence the decision to maintain support for the operation whose mandate is to deradicalise, rehabilitate and reintegrate repentant insurgents into the society, Audi explained.
Earlier, Brig Gen Ali who was accompanied by advisors drawn from different agencies explained that the visit was to create awareness and cultivate stakeholders to reduce future dependence on foreign support.
The Coordinator who lauded transformation of the NSCDC under Audi-led administration, also appreciated the participation of the Corps in the operation.
He explained that Operation Safe Corridor is saddled with the mandate of deradicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration of repentant insurgents into the society without stigmatization.
Established in 2016, he maintained that the Operation has done its best to keep its mandate in focus to reduce stigmatization of repentant insurgents, noting that there is need to correct the wrong impression of providing succour to those who wronged the society before.
General Ali added that Operation Safe Corridor is a local mechanism of solving our problems for insurgents who are willing to surrender and be reintegrated into the society rather than resort to criminal justice.
According to him, there are plans to rejig the processes and curriculum by expansion of skills acquisition.
