Lagos State Police Deploys Massive Security for Eid Fitril Celebration B
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the deployment of a large security contingent across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid Fitril celebration. The deployment includes personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and other tactical squads. Specialized units such as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, K9 units, and Mounted Troops have also been mobilized to enhance security during the festivities.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the immediate deployment of conventional officers, elite strike forces, and tactical units to strategic locations, including identified black spots and high-risk areas. This measure aims to deter crime, reassure residents and visitors, and facilitate a seamless celebration across the state.
In a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin,
Police Public Relations Officer Lagos State Command, the police confirmed that strike forces and tactical units will be stationed at Eid praying grounds, recreational centers, event venues, and other public spaces expected to witness large gatherings. Officers will be equipped with armored personnel carriers and patrol vehicles to provide maximum security coverage.
“These proactive measures are designed to prevent crime and security breaches while maintaining public order before, during, and after the festivities,” the statement read.
To bolster security efforts, the Lagos State Police will collaborate with other security agencies, including the military, paramilitary units, and state law enforcement bodies such as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The Commissioner of Police has instructed all officers to perform their duties professionally, ensuring that the rights of all citizens are upheld.

CP Olohundare Jimoh also advised parents and guardians to caution their children against any activities that could disrupt public peace.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of all residents throughout the celebrations and beyond.
