Boko Haram: Sultan reveals plan for victims’ children

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has disclosed that traditional rulers have agreed to adopt children whose parents were killed by Boko Haram.
He announced this at the launching of a book at the weekend in Sokoto on Sunday.
The Sultan lamented that there were over 50,000 orphans at the camps of internally displaced persons across the northeast, who should be catered for by well-meaning Nigerians.
“We deliberated on this during our meeting and resolved that each emirate should adopt at least five orphans and train them in order to be useful to themselves, their societies and the country,” he said.
The monarch further appealed to wealthy individuals to adopted and training kids of those who lost their lives.
Meanwhile, the Sultan also urged Nigerians to strive and register in the ongoing voter registration as the 2019 general elections approaches.
“It is only with a voter card that Nigerians can elect leaders of their choice who will protect their interests,” he stated.
