Nasarawa earmarks N300,000 monthly for NDLEA
The
Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al- Makura has expressed
support for the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
(NDLEA) in order to boost the fight against illicit drugs which is
gradually gaining ground among some youths in the state.
The
governor who paid an unscheduled visit to the agency at the weekend
said the reason for his visit was to assess its state of facilities with
a view to making some interventions where the need arises.
He
promised to give the command a monthly stipend of three hundred
thousand naira to boost its operations and cater for some critical
needs.
Al-Makura’s
visit to the NDLEA headquarters in Lafia became a source of relief to
some of the inmates as he promised to make a donation of fifty
mattresses to the command.
The
governor stated that the policy of his administration which is about
inclusive governance, was intended to give the necessary assistance to
all the agencies of government operating in the state for their smooth
operation as development partners.
It
would be recalled that the NDLEA was among the security agencies in the
state that benefitted from the governor’s gesture last year when he
donated a 36-setter bus to be used for matters that demands prompt
action.
