NATIONAL POLICE WEEK 2026: DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESENTS CHEQUES OF OVER SIXTEEN MILLION NAIRA TO FAMILIES OF FALLEN OFFICERS



As part of activities lined up to mark the 2026 National Police day,  the Delta State Police Command today, Thursday, 2 April 2026, presented cheques to families of deceased police officers.


The event, which signifies the culmination of the week-long activities within the State, precedes the grand finale scheduled to hold at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. A total sum of ₦16,679,749.92 (Sixteen Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Nine Naira, Ninety-Two Kobo) was presented to thirteen (13) beneficiaries as part of efforts to support families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.


Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, described the occasion as both solemn and significant, noting that it reflects the commitment of the Force leadership to the welfare of its personnel and their families. He assured the beneficiariea that the Nigeria Police force is with them and will continue to support them.


In a vote of appreciation, one of the beneficiaries, Ahanuwa Raphael, who spoke on behalf of the other beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Police Command for the support extended to them. He noted that the gesture would go a long way in assisting the families and prayed for continued strength and success for the Nigeria Police Force.


The Commissioner stated that the sacrifices of fallen officers remain invaluable and will never be forgotten; he encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided, while assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to stand by them.
