PRESIDENT TINUBU REAFFIRMS CONFIDENCE IN NSCDC LEADERSHIP, RENEWS TENURE OF PROFESSOR AHMED ABUBAKAR AUDI, mni, OFR FOR ANOTHER FIVE YEARS
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) announces the renewal of the appointment of its Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a new five-year tenure effective February 27, 2026.
This renewal is a decisive affirmation of the strategic reforms, operational expansion, and institutional discipline that have redefined the Corps over the past five years. It underscores the confidence of the Federal Government in the capacity of the NSCDC to assume an even greater responsibility within Nigeria’s evolving security framework.
Under Professor Audi’s leadership since 2021, the Corps has intensified the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, strengthened enforcement against economic sabotage, enhanced regulation of Private Guard Companies, expanded intelligence-driven operations, and reinforced inter-agency synergy nationwide. These efforts have significantly repositioned the NSCDC as a frontline agency in safeguarding national stability.
President Tinubu has further charged the Commandant-General to consolidate these gains and elevate the Corps to play a more prominent and strategic role in internal security, particularly as national efforts intensify against banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, illegal mining, vandalism, and other threats to economic and public safety.
The renewed mandate signals continuity of vision, stability of command, and acceleration of reforms. It marks the beginning of a new phase focused on operational sophistication, technological advancement, personnel welfare, infrastructural development, and strengthened community engagement.
Professor Audi, who joined the Corps as a volunteer in 1996 and rose through the ranks through dedication and professionalism, represents institutional resilience and transformative leadership. His reappointment is not only a recognition of past achievements but a strategic investment in the future of the Corps.
Signed
