CG NSCDC CONDOLES WITH FAMILY OF FEMALE OFFICER INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT DURING SIMULATION EXERCISE

The Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, has condoled with the family, friends, and colleagues of a gallant officer of the Corps following her tragic death as a result of an auto accident.

The unfortunate incident occurred at the National Headquarters, Abuja, during a simulation exercise on Tactical Rescue Operation involving kidnapped schoolchildren, carried out by the Female Strike Force in commemoration of the 2026 World Civil Defence Day, an annual event observed by member countries worldwide.

Following the incident, the officer, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Corps Ogbodo Ene Victoria, was immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, Abuja, for urgent medical attention. However, despite the efforts of medical personnel to save her life, she later passed on.

The CG expressed deep shock over the unfortunate incident and prayed for the repose of her soul. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to everyone associated with the deceased, including officers and men of the Corps nationwide.

He also directed a high-powered delegation from the Corps National Headquarters to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late officer. He assured that the Service would ensure she is accorded befitting burial rites and that all her post-service benefits are duly processed and paid to her family.

Professor Audi appealed to officers and men of the Corps to continue praying for the Service and charged them not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident, which occurred during the World Civil Defence Day celebration. He encouraged personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties while trusting in God.

He further noted that the unfortunate accident might have been avoided with adequate safety precautions and proper coordination of the simulation exercise. He advised personnel to strictly observe and adhere to all safety standards and operational protocols, given the nature of the Corps’ mandates, in order to prevent future occurrences of such workplace hazards.
