The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ndiegoro Division in Aba, Abia State, Mr. Kingsley Woke, has raised a team to investigate two journalists; Okey Sampson of The Sun and Sunny Nwankwo, The Nation over a report.
The two journalists had reported last Thursday that police in Aba shot dead a notorious armed robbery and kidnap syndicate leader identified as “Onye Army”.
The report said “Onye Army” and his team had earlier in the day, robbed a man of N3.5million after he had withdrawn the money from a commercial bank along Azikiwe Road and that a policeman was also shot dead.
Recalled that the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ogbonnaya Nta confirmed the incident.  However, in a surprise move, Ndiegoro DPO, Mr. Woke invited the two reporters on Monday, directing them to report to his office yesterday.
The police invitation read in part, “This office (Ndiegoro police division) is investigating a case of armed robbery regarding your publication on June 24, 2016.
“You are hereby required to report at Ndiegoro police station, Aba on June 28, 2016 at about 1000hrs. On arrival, you will ask of DPO or DCO1”.
The invitation, was a ploy by the police division to arrest and detain the journalists over the publication.
