 CDOWA TAKES MEDICAL OUTREACH TO COMMUNITIES IN FCT


‎In a display of her corporate social responsibility, the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), has extended medical services to Sauka  and other surrounding communities hosting the National Headquarters of the Corps in the Federal Capital Territory through its 2026 medical outreach.

‎According to the Corps' Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, represented by DCG Pedro Awili Ideba, the programme is a demonstration of the NSCDC's unwearing  commitment to the health and well-being of its personnel and members of surrounding communities.

‎Organised in conjunction with the NSCDC Medical Centre, the Commandant General said the outreach commenced six years ago and has consistently sustained the culture of community-based healthcare interventions.

‎Continuing he explained that similar programmes were held in the past in different communities like Sauka, Nuwalege, Iddo-Sarki, Gbessa, Gui, Zamani, Wukara in the FCT and Laminga in Nasarawa State.

‎According to him, the objective of the event is to improve access to health care services for underserved population, promote awareness on disease prevention and healthy living as well as strengthen trust and cordial relationships between security agencies and host communities.

‎Earlier in an address of welcome, the National President of CDOWA, Hajiya Aishatu Ahmed Audi represented by DCC Chinonye Nwosu-Orue, noted that the programme aimed to promote good health and well-being of inhabitants of host communities.

‎CDOWA President added, "this outreach is organized out of love and concern for the health of our people and we encourage everyone present to take full advantage of the free medical services available."

‎In a remark on services available to the beneficiaries, the Medical Director of Lt Gen AB Dambazau Medical Centre, Commandant Dr Emeka Okeke, said the outreach presents opportunity for beneficiaries to access free consultations, prostate assay, cervical screening, hepatitis B screening, urinalysis, diabetes and maleria screening with medication.

‎Speaking on behalf of over 150 beneficiaries and subjects, tha Aguma of Sauka Yusuf Magaji, applauded NSCDC for the privilege of taking healthcare services to their doorstep and appealed for sustainance and recruitment of their youth into the Corps.
