OGUN POLICE DEPLOY FULL SECURITY OPERATIONS TO GUARANTEE SAFE FESTIVE SEASON CELEBRATIONS
The Ogun State Police Command has adopted comprehensive security measures before, during and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
The Command reminds members of the public that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts and bangers remains in force. The loud sounds produced by these items can easily be mistaken for gunshots or explosions, often causing fear, panic and unnecessary tension among residents.
To maintain peace and public safety, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and all tactical units have been directed to intensify patrols and increase police visibility in residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals and along major highways. Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks, as anyone whose actions cause public disturbance, injury or damage to property will be apprehended and prosecuted according to the law.
The Commissioner of Police urges residents to celebrate peacefully, obey the law and cooperate fully with the Police and other security agencies. He assures the public of adequate security throughout the festive period and beyond.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (General Complaints Line - Toll Free): 0800 000 9111. Emergency Numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369 and 0708 497 2994.
