NSCDC FCT COMMANDANT APPEALS FOR CONSCIOUS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT IN THE NSCDC: DESCRIBES SPORTS AS GOLDMINE.
The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, has sued for deliberate sports development in the Corps in view of it's numerous benefit when properly harnessed.
Odumosu, made the call when he granted audience to the Acting Commandant of Sports, NSCDC, National Headquarters in his office at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The FCT Command Boss, said sports unit of the Corps is one of the units that has over time brought glory to the corps with some of the officers flying national colours and called for concerted efforts to take the corps back to the hay day.
"It was a thing of pride for me then as the National Public Relations officers when we had national athlets from the Corps representing the Country".
He said as new personnel are evolving, there was need to harness the talents of sports men and women in the Corps to bring back the past glory.
"There is need to encourage sports in the Corps by discovery new and younger talented sports men to position the Corps once again for greater heights".
He congratulated the acting Commandant of sports on his appointment, he urged him to prioritize efficient service above gains if he must succeed in his new appointment.
The FCT Command helmsman, admonished him to be success driven, learn from the mistakes of his predecessors and leverage on them to forge ahead.
There are no limits to what you can achieve, just be proactive and determined, your passion for the job is key to your success, Odumosu avowed.
He pledge his support to the acting Commandant of sports in the area of providing security for his sporting events as the need arises.
Speaking, the Acting Commandant of sports, NSCDC National Headquarters, sauka Abuja, Deputy Commandant of Corps, Oladipo Lawal, commended Commandant Odumosu, for his passion for sports right from his days as the National Public Relations officer, describing him as "Commandant of Commandants".
DCC Lawal said the visit was to solicit the support of the Commandant to move the sports unit of the Corps forward.
