New DSS boss vows to review rights abuses, unlawful detention

The Department of State Services (DSS) has vowed to return to the part of professionalism, saying the era of human rights abuses and unlawful detention was over.
Acting Director General of the Service, Mr. Matthew Seiyefa, gave the undertaking yesterday in Abuja, at a maiden press briefing to unfold his agenda.
Seiyefa was appointed acting DG on Tuesday, following the sack of Mr. Lawal Daura, whose three year stint at the DSS, exposed the agency to harsh criticisms.
Meanwhile, the acting head of the secret police has pledged to collaborate with other sister agencies as well as the media, with a view to achieving the Services’ core mandate.
