CP Edgal Appoints CSP Taiwo Kasumu as Divisional Police Officer Igando.




CP Edgal, stated this during an emergency security meeting and on his visit to Igando community said I have called this emergency meeting because of my style of policing which is community policing and safety partnership. I believe that if we have a security problem, we can solve it together. It has come to my notice that hoodlums are troubling this community. I am here to put in place measures to counter them.

“I am here with a new DPO who is charged with the responsibility of working with you so that you would no longer continue to have security challenges in your community.

The CP Edgal considered the competencies of CSP Taiwo Kasumu and his track records in anti-robbery operations. Some of us on the crime reporting beat are not surprise of CSP Taiwo’s competencies because of his enviable resume to deliver on his new assignment.


CSP Taiwo Kasumu is a member of the police academy ASP course 2001-2002. He is Lawyer with a Phd in sociology of Law.

He has served as second in command Anti-robbery unit in Port Harcourt in 2007 and also served as second in command Anti-Robbery SCIID Panti in 2009.

He was appointed as the media relations officer, the African Union in 2010-2012 missions in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has served with the United Nation Peacekeeping force in Burundi and Sudan in 2006 – 2007 respectively.

He was in charge of human right section in SCIID Panti until his deployment to Igando as Divisional police officer.

On resumption of office as DPO Igando. CP Egal instructed CSP Taiwo to send him the list of all policemen in Igando police division who have spent up to three years so he could transferred them elsewhere. Because they have become part of the problems at Igando. CP Edgal, who stated this during an emergency security meeting and on his visit to Igando community.

 CP Edgal spoke further on the reason of his visit with regards to the regular letters sent by arm robbers notifying residence of Igando and environs of their coming to rob them of their money and valuables.

CP Edgal has urged residents to warn their wards against loitering between 12midnight to 4:00a.m. In Igando, Egan, Akesan and Obadore communities in Lagos, saying anyone found outside within the restricted time would be arrested.

The new changes is made to improve the security architecture in the area.

CP Edgal immediately deployed a team of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) to intensify patrol at Obadore area, urging them to respond with firearms to any suspect in possession of firearms.
