Two persons have been killed by sus­pected cultists in Omoku in Ogba-Egbe­ma-Ndoni local govern­ment area of Rivers State.
The victims, who were simply identified as Emma and Dele were murdered Monday night at their residence in Ohoada Road.
A source, who lives close to the compound where the victims were killed narrated that the killers, suspected to be cultists, released several gunshots during the op­eration which caused panic in the area.
Rivers Police com­mand’s spokesman, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, told re­porters that the men were killed over cult-related dispute.
Omoni said men of the Anti-Cultism Unit had been deployed to unravel those behind the attack.
He said, “Our men have visited the scene of the latest killing in Omoku and moved the remains of the deceased to the mortuary, as inves­tigations continue.”
In a related develop­ment, a lecturer at the Federal College of Edu­cation (Technical) in Omoku, Isaac Messiah and his daughter have been kidnapped.
Messiah and his daughter were abducted from their residence by gunmen who drove in a Toyota Camry car.
The incident happened around Lagos Avenue, off Ogboo Road in Omoku town, the headquarters of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA.
These incidents came few days after youths of Omoku announced their resolve to shun cultism and violent crimes, as well as to resist politi­cians that may want to use them for violence.
Omoni however said that they were yet to be briefed on the kidnap of the lecturer and his daughter. - The Authority
