Army, DSS begin 'Operation Harbin Kunama'
The Nigerian Army is set to begin a four-day internal security operation code-named ‘Operation Harbin Kuna­ma II’ in the general areas of 1 Division Kaduna and 3 Division Jos fromTues­day, 19- 22 April, 2017.
The exercise which will involve other security agencies including DSS, NSCDC and the Nige­rian Police is designed to checkmate activities of criminal elements in these areas and to con­solidate on the gains of total defeat and routing out of the Boko Haram insurgents in the North East.
In a press conference on Thursday, the Chief of Training and Operations Nigerian Army, Maj Gen David Ahmadu, said that the exercise will also in­volve conduct of Town Hall meetings in Kafan­chan in Kaduna and Ga­nawuri in Plateau State.
Other activities lined up according to General Ah­madu include commis­sioning of health centres at Zangon Kataf, borehole at Kafanchan as well as conduct of medical out­reaches in Kano, Bauchi and Plateau States.
He called on residents of affected states not to panic as their safety is guaranteed throughout the conduct of the exer­cise, urging them to re­main on high alert and re­port activities of suspected criminals who may flee from these areas for safety in their areas.-The Authority
