Don't re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu, MASSOB tells FG
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB) has kicked against comments by the Minister of Interior,
Abdulrahman Dambazau, that the court would decide the possible re-arrest
of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi
Kanu.
MASSOB stated that by his statement, the minister does not mean well for Nigerians.
Reacting to Dambazau’s alleged declaration that the Federal Government intends to re-arrest Kanu, MASSOB said that the comments by a minister portrayed him as a “trouble-seeking personality.”
In a press statement made available to The AUTHORITY on Sunday, Comrade Uchenna Madu, leader of MASSOB, said that Kanu’s non-violent activities towards “Biafra actualisation and restoration have never breached, truncated or confronted anybody or group of persons”.
Madu said that MASSOB would resist any move to re-arrest Kanu, warning that it would amount to insult for a section of the Nigerian federation being marked out for intimidation and inhuman treatment.
He said it was most disappointing that the minister sought to defend his kinsmen by claiming that the threat to Igbo with an ultimatum of quit notice to vacate Arewa land before Oct 1st, 2017, was a make-up and misrepresentation by the media.
MASSOB said: “He is trying to subject and subvert the naked truth of the threat by his Fulani brothers that they were quoted out of context. They are denying a statement they made on video.”
MASSOB warned that any attempt or plan to re-arrest Kanu will be
resisted, adding “We can never tolerate it. It is an insult and
embarrassment to our inalienable rights”.MASSOB stated that by his statement, the minister does not mean well for Nigerians.

Last Friday, Dambazau said that the court would determine what becomes of the actions of Kanu for allegedly violating the bail conditions when his trial resumes.
He said that it was left for the court which gave the conditions for his release to determine whether those terms were violated or not.
At a press conference in his office in Abuja, Dambazau said that the general public could only assume that he has broken the terms of his release until it was certified by the court.
His words: “The other issue is that Nnamdi Kanu violates bail conditions, but it is not time yet for him to go back to the court on trial. We have this assumption, but I think it is left for the court that gave those conditions to determine whether those conditions were violated or not.
“If those conditions were violated, the court knows what to do. We cannot assume that those conditions are being violated. Yes, the public knows those conditions given but the determination of the extent of violation will be left for the court.
“It is not like the police will go after Kanu to arrest him on the grounds that he violated the bail conditions. Kanu will have a day in court and the court will determine his fate because it is the court that gave those conditions,” he said.
