Suspected robber shot dead in Warri

The Delta State Police Command on Monday said a notorious armed robber who has been ter­rorising Warri and its environs has been shot dead.
According to a police source close to B Division, Warri, the armed robber was shot dead during a gun duel between the police and the armed robbers in Warri.
It was also gathered that the deceased armed robber was shot by his colleague in an exchange of gunfire when trying to shoot a vigilante who were in a com­bined patrol with the police.
According to the police source, the deceased gave up the ghost at the Warri Central Hospital where he was taken to for treatment by the police.
The police also recovered a locally made pistol and the victim’s tricycle from the suspect with Registration number PTN 739 QA (Delta State) with blood stains.
It was also gathered that the deceased suspect and three others had earlier at­tacked, shot and injured a commercial tricycle operator, Paul Obidi before dispossessing him of his mobile phone, drivers license and other particulars with six thousand naira cash.

The victim, Paul Obidi while narrating his ordeal in the hands of the armed men to our correspon­dent in Warri said, “I left the house around 6 this morning and I carried one passenger along Cemetery road when the armed rob­bers attacked me. They col­lected my license, particu­lars and 6,000naira.”
