FCTA declares zero tolerance for fake and counterfeit drugs

The Federal Capital Territo­ry Administration (FCTA) has declared zero tolerance on fake and counterfeit drugs in the Territory.
It has therefore embarked on massive enlightenment and cre­ating awareness among residents to be aware and be warned on patronising fake and counterfeit drugs to ensure the protection and propel a healthy life among citizen of the FCT.
Acting secretary FCT Health and Human services secretariat Mrs. Alice Odey- Achu said dur­ing the flag off of public enlight­enment and awareness campaign against fake and counterfeit drugs in Karu Motor Park, organised by the FCT- Task Force on Coun­terfeit and Fake Drugs in Abuja, called on residents to desist from patronising the vendors and hawkers who sales fake and coun­terfeit drugs for healthy life.
Mrs. Odey - Achu who was represented by Pharm. Hauwa Kulu Ibrahim, the Director, Pharmacy of Health and Human Services Secretariat said that the choice of motor park for the en­lightenment campaign was be­cause it has been observed that drugs are often hawk and sold at parks were citizens often ig­norantly fold victims of buying and administered under self-medication without haven the knowledge of taking what fake and counterfeit drugs is.
Speaking earlier, the chairper­son of FCT Task Force on coun­terfeit and fake drugs Pharm. Hauwa- Kulu Ibrahim in her wel­come address calls on the FCT transport worker to see the cam­paign as an opportunity of seek­ing knowledge and be aware of what counterfeit and fake drugs is like and make a good use of this knowledge to ensure, protect and propel a healthy life among resi­dents of FCT.-The Authority
