Operatives of the Na­tional Drug Law Enforcement Agen­cy (NDLEA) in Kano have intercepted two trucks loaded with cannabis sativa en-route Yobe State and Libya through Kano.
The two trucks were travelling from the south­ern part of the country.
One of the trucks paint­ed in security colour with siren facilities had two men in uniform later identified as fake police officers as oc­cupants.
The fake police officers were from Edo State travel­ling through Kano to Yobe State to deliver the illicit consignment weighing 715 kg.
The suspects were among 42 illicit drug deal­ers paraded by NDLEA authorities at its Airport Road headquarters, where illicit drugs weighing 4,431.1889kg were dis­played.
According to the state NDLEA Commander, Hamza Umar who spoke to journalists in his office, the suspects on police uniform and their security-coloured Ford Jeep were arrested around the popular Yahuza Suya spot in Nassarawa area of Kano metropolis, after beating several secu­rity checkpoints. The Ford Jeep was marked Pilot 1.
The other truck loaded with 64kg of illicit drugs mixed with stock fish was heading to Libya from Onitsha, Anambra State.-The Authority
