Ex-militant-General turned kidnap kingpin Met his waterloo



IT was end of the road for ex-militant -General known as Prosper David who had terrorized the Niger- Delta regions for some time now after he was gunned down during a fierce cross fire with the Police. Sources said the notoriety of Prosper who was among some of the Niger-Delta militants granted amnesty by the federal government but backtracked into the creeks and commenced full time kidnapping for ransom came to a head after his gang kidnapped one Mrs. Bob-Manuel sometime in November 2017 in her shop on 17, Nvuigwe Road Woji Port Harcourt; the Rivers State capital. It was gathered that after collecting ransom and releasing Mrs. Bob-Manuel, Prosper went underground having noticed that the Police were on his trail. But crack detectives attached to the ACP Abba Kyari-led Intelligence Response Team IRT tracked the suspect to Asiri area of Yenagoa Bayelsa State in newly a rented apartment whereupon; on sighting the Police took to his heels and opened fire on them. The Police promptly responded and he was gunned down. A statement from the Abuja office of the IRT obtained by CrimeWorld gave other suspects arrested alongside Prosper as Johnson Denis, (driver to the kingpin), Benjamin Johnson and Joshua Anthony adding, “One AK 47 riffle, one magazine twenty-six rounds of ammunition and a Nokia phone belonging to his victims which was used for ransom negotiation. Serious efforts are in top gear to arrest other gang member and recover more arms.”
